Client: Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven

 

Description: The competition winning house was built by the Yale School of Architecture Class of 2015.  The winning team’s house design re-conceptualized ‘the hearth’ as a central domestic element into a cabinet wall & lightwell.  All building details & construction documents were made & executed by the students with the guidance of professional architects & contractors.  The walls, stairs & floor beams of the house were prefabricated in a nearby warehouse & then brought to the site after the foundations were put in.
